A visitor walks into your lobby, gives a name at the desk and waits for a badge. For those two minutes, the wall behind reception is the company. It is either the sharpest thing in the room or a grid of dots running a slideshow. This guide is for the admin head or facilities manager who has been asked to put up an LED wall and wants it right the first time.

Where will people see the lobby wall from?

Take the floor plan and mark three spots. Each one answers a different question.

The entrance: how big?

The first glance happens from the door, often 8 to 15 m away. From there nobody sees pixels. They see size, shape and brightness. A wall that looks generous from the desk can shrink to a postcard under a double-height ceiling once you stand at the door.

The reception desk and the sofa: how sharp?

This is where visitors stand still and actually look. It decides the pixel pitch. Measure from the wall to where a visitor’s eyes will be while they wait, not to the door.

The turnstiles and lift lobby: how useful?

Employees pass here every day. If the wall is visible from this path, it becomes the place for notices and announcements, not just the brand film. If the same building has a facade, a cafeteria and lift lobbies to plan, LED video walls for commercial buildings gives each space its own spec.

Two practical checks. If the wall sits behind the desk, keep its bottom edge above the heads of people standing at the counter, so a queue never hides it. And think about shape. Brand films are usually 16:9, which fits a 16 × 9 ft wall exactly and a 10 × 6 ft wall closely. A wider 12 × 6 ft wall leaves room for a welcome message beside the film.

Which pixel pitch suits a corporate lobby?

The rule of thumb: the closest comfortable viewing distance in metres is roughly the pitch in millimetres. P2.5 looks smooth from 2.5 m. Any closer and the dot structure shows, and a visitor at the desk has two idle minutes to notice it.

What not to buy: a finer pitch than the room needs. P1.2 at ₹14,650 per sq ft + GST is for someone sitting within 1.2 m of the screen, which no lobby has. For most lobbies the real choice is between P1.8 and P2.5, and the money saved by choosing correctly can buy a bigger wall. How bright should a lobby LED wall be?

Most Bengaluru lobbies have a glass front, so the light changes all day. An indoor panel of up to 600 nits handles that when the wall faces into the lobby, and it runs below full for most of the day. If the wall faces the street through the glass and must be read from outside, it needs an outdoor-grade panel, up to 4,500 nits, not an indoor one. That is a different product; say so at the survey.

What should a lobby wall show?

A showreel on loop becomes invisible within a week. Plan four kinds of content before you choose the hardware.

• A brand film of a minute or two, with versions that rotate so regulars do not see the same cut all day.
• Visitor welcome screens with the client’s name and logo, set by the front desk from a phone before the meeting.
• Notices for employees: town halls, milestones, safety drills, festival greetings.
• An evening mode: a dimmer, slower loop after office hours.

Why do lobby walls need front-service, flush mounts?

Lobbies are finished spaces: marble or granite cladding, false ceilings, lift shafts behind the wall. There is no corridor for a technician to walk behind the screen. Front-service cabinets solve this. Modules come out from the lobby side with a magnetic tool, the wall sits flush with the cladding, and service never means opening up stone. Plan power and data routes before the cladding goes up, not after. A dedicated, earthed line with a stabiliser protects the power supplies, the part most likely to fail after a voltage sag. A real Bengaluru example: the corporate office wall

One Bengaluru corporate office came to us after two attempts that had not worked. A projector washed out under the skylights. A grid of TVs put bezels through every slide.
