Why not just buy the brightest
- Power: power draw rises with brightness, so every nit above what the spot needs shows up on the electricity bill.
- Night glare: outdoor walls above 500 nits after dark are blinding and, in many Bengaluru zones, draw complaints. Auto-dimming is mandatory on our outdoor walls.
- Colour depth: an indoor panel run at 100% loses greyscale detail in dark scenes; a 600-nit panel run at 40 to 60% gives better blacks than the same panel flat out.

Other specs that matter as much as nits
- Contrast ratio: 4,000:1 and above for indoor, achieved with black-face LEDs and matte masks.
- Refresh rate: 3,840 Hz so phone cameras and broadcast cameras do not show scan lines. Essential for jewellery, events and studios; see refresh rate, explained.
- Greyscale: 14 to 16 bit for smooth gradients in video.
- Viewing angle: 140° to 160° horizontal so side tables and side aisles still see a true image.
